Not far from the Char Dham, in the Asangthang locality of Namchi, is a majestic temple of Sai Baba and other Hindu deities. An architectural endeavour of the Shirdi Sai Baba Trust of South Sikkim under the patronage of Government of Sikkim Tourism, it was opened for to the public on 3rd November 2010. The exterior of the temple has gold accents, while the interior has been built into two storeys with two halls on each floor.
Samdruptse Hill; the 'wish fulfilling hill' is just 5 km away from Namchi, situated at an altitude of 2134 m (7000 ft). This epic hill is ornamented with a giant statue of the Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche); the patron saint of Sikkim who has been showering its blessings since more than 1,200 years. It is a 45 m tall statue, overlooking the whole city, and is gilded with gold that glitters when the sunlight falls over it. The hill offers the vista of the magnificent Mt. Kangchenjunga amongst the richly forested hills under the blue painted sky.
The ropeway in Namchi has been designed, constructed and operated by Damodar Ropeway and Infra Ltd. The ropeway is a monocable fixed grip pulsated one with a total of 12 four seater cabins. These cabins have been fixed on the rope line in four groups with each group consisting of three cabins. The ropeway has been built as per state of art technology following relevant Indian and International standards.
